Hektor Thillet: Egocentric Youth

The bearable lightness of being

Well, in fact this is a single that doesn't take itself too seriously, and for me at least, the cover is a clear indication of that. It's sensual in an ironical, self-deprecating way, and all that pink (strawberry and stuff) gives a note of exaggeration which I dare say was intentional.

For some reason, the entire "setup" of the song reminded me (faintly) of George Michael's Freedom. As the track went on playing, the impression that it is a deliberate mock-up was reinforced.

Maybe this kind of music doesn't have anything revolutionary to offer to the spheres of art and intellect, but that isn't its purpose anyway. It's not unpleasant to listen to - and (OK, I know this isn't perhaps considered a serious argument but I can't avoid the thought) there are well-known artists (and/or "artists") out there who make money from much worse than that...

NOTE: This album has been withdrawn from Jamendo. However, the single itself is still available in the remix version by Kangaroo Musique.
